Terms of Service

Version 2026-11 · Effective 4 November 2026

These terms govern your use of rooftopIQ. rooftopIQ is an app for solar EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) companies. It lets them run projects, deals, tasks and chat with their teams, partners and guests.

rooftopIQ is provided by Rooftop Energy Tech Sdn Bhd (registration number 202501013544 (1614958-P)), a company registered in Malaysia ("we", "us"). Our address is 3-2, Block D2, Jalan PJU 1/39, Dataran Prima, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using rooftopIQ, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use rooftopIQ for a company, you agree for that company too, and you confirm you may do so.

rooftopIQ is for business use. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

2. The beta

rooftopIQ is in public beta. It is pre-release software, free to use for a limited period. It may contain bugs, and it may be unavailable at times, including for maintenance. We work to keep it available and secure, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may add, change or remove features. If a change takes away something important to you, we will try to tell you in advance.

We may end the beta, or end free access to rooftopIQ, by giving you at least [TBC: 30] days' notice by email or in the app. Before it ends, your organisation's admins can export its content.

If we introduce paid features, you will not be charged unless you choose to pay.

3. Accounts and organisations

Work in rooftopIQ happens inside an organisation, which is usually a company. When you sign up, you create an organisation and become its admin. An organisation's admins manage its members and decide who can see its work.

Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

The organisation that a piece of work belongs to is our customer for that work.

4. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • break any law, or use rooftopIQ to help anyone else break one;
  • upload malware, or any other code designed to damage or gain access to a system or data;
  • upload content you have no right to share, content that infringes anyone's intellectual property or other rights, or content that is unlawful, harmful or abusive;
  • send spam or unwanted messages through rooftopIQ;
  • try to get into accounts, organisations or data you have no access to;
  • probe, scan or test the security of rooftopIQ without our written permission;
  • disrupt rooftopIQ, overload it, or get round its limits;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer rooftopIQ, except where the law allows it;
  • use rooftopIQ to build a competing product.

5. Your content

Your content is what you and your organisation put into rooftopIQ, such as projects, deals, tasks, files, notes, calendar events and chat messages. You and your organisation keep all rights in it.

You give us permission to host, store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run rooftopIQ for you, to keep it secure and to support you. We do not sell your content.

You are responsible for your content, and for having the right to put it into rooftopIQ. For personal data about your own customers and contacts, this means informing them and obtaining any consent the law requires before you enter it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

6. Personal data we process for your organisation

When your organisation enters personal data about its customers, contacts or partners, your organisation controls that data and we process it on its behalf. For that data, we:

  • process it only to provide rooftopIQ, and as your organisation directs through its use of rooftopIQ;
  • protect it with the security measures set out in our Privacy Policy;
  • bind our staff and service providers who can reach it to confidentiality;
  • use only the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, and update that list before a new provider starts processing the data;
  • tell your organisation without undue delay after becoming aware of a breach that affects it;
  • help your organisation answer requests from the people the data is about;
  • return the data on request when your organisation closes, and then delete it as set out in our Privacy Policy.

[TBC by counsel: whether this section meets each country's rules for processor contracts, including prior approval of new service providers in Indonesia.]

7. Confidentiality

We treat your content as confidential. Our staff and service providers can reach it only when they need to, to run, secure or support rooftopIQ, or when the law requires it.

If we share non-public information about rooftopIQ with you, keep it confidential too.

8. Third-party services

rooftopIQ relies on other providers, for example for hosting, sign-in, email delivery and chat. Some features connect to services you choose, such as Google sign-in. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control.

9. Suspension and termination

You can stop using rooftopIQ at any time. An organisation's admins can remove members, and you can ask us to delete your account.

We may suspend or close an account or an organisation if it breaks these terms, puts other people or rooftopIQ at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

When an organisation is closed, we return its data on request (section 6), then delete or anonymise it as set out in our Privacy Policy, except what we must keep by law.

10. Feedback

If you send us feedback, bug reports, feature requests or ideas, you give us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them for any purpose, with no obligation to you.

11. Disclaimers

rooftopIQ is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties beyond those in these terms, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

rooftopIQ helps you organise your work. It does not replace your own professional judgement on engineering, safety, commercial or legal matters.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data;
  • our total liability to you for all claims in any 12 months is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for rooftopIQ in those 12 months and RM 500.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud.

13. Indemnity

You will compensate us for claims, losses and reasonable costs that arise because your content, or your use of rooftopIQ, breaks these terms or the law, or infringes someone else's rights.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. The courts of Malaysia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version and date at the top of this page show which version applies. If we make a significant change, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using rooftopIQ after that, you accept the new terms.

16. General

If your organisation has signed a pilot or subscription agreement with us, that agreement prevails over these terms where the two conflict.

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent.
